“Please be assured that one of my key priorities is to address and improve mental health in Northern Ireland, including perinatal mental health.
I wrote (yes, again!!) to the Health Minister, Robin Swann last week asking about the progress of Specialist Perinatal Mental Health services ASAP.
We are delighted with the commitment to these, in the Mental Health Action Plan for NI, but are aware that much work needs to be completed in order for these to be implemented and the services to become a reality – I offered my continued support to the Minister and his Department as they/we do this.
Myself and a team continue to work alongside the Public Health Agency and will do all we can in the coming days, weeks and months as we know how vital these are for mums and their families, especially now.
Please know our part of the work is continuing “behind the scenes” and I will continue to ask every question I can to ensure NI has access to these, as soon as is possible.
I’m delighted to be assured, once more, of the Health Minister’s commitment to Perinatal Mental Health.
We’ll keep going until the services, and a MBU, are in place.
