Let me introduce you to Anne Marie McKinley! Anne Marie is joining Have you seen that girl? as a regular guest blogger, for the next few months. She’s a great friend, who I’m thankful to have in my life, and I also consider her somewhat of an expert where all things maternal mental health are concerned!
Anne Marie has worked in a variety of settings in her career as a nurse and midwife and recently her work in Birth Trauma and Maternal Mental Health Counselling has encouraged her to pass on these skills and tools to others. She knows that both women and men can be adversely affected in the journey through pregnancy/birth and in the years following. Often symptoms of trauma are overlooked or are presumed to be a normal part of being new parents. Anne Marie believes it’s vital that parents get the help they need and deserve, it’s this that fuels her passion for her work and the parents she supports.
She joins us with a wealth of knowledge and experience having worked in Africa, The Jubilee Maternity, The Ulster Maternity Delivery Suite, community and faith-based projects, and now almost 9 years in Maternal Mental Health and Birth Trauma Counselling. She’s also the founder of Afterthoughts Counselling And Training Ltd.
Her favourite activities include – walking in forests or by the sea; adventures; coffees; time alone; laughter and craic with friends; family takeaways and celebrations; wine and chat that goes on past midnight!
Please welcome Anne Marie as she joins us over the next few months. I know what she has to share will be helpful, educational and inspiring.
She’d also love to hear from you and her contacts details will be in each post.
Her first piece will be out next week… watch this space! You’ll can find all her posts (as they are published) on this part of the Have you seen that girl? website HERE.
