Welcome to Have you seen that girl?
Thanks for stopping by – I’m glad you’re here! I’m Lindsay – married to Gavin and Mum to our little boy, Reuben. We live and work in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
I’m the founder of Have you seen that girl? and I hope you find the website helpful, first and foremost I want it to be a resource.
It all began due to my own battle with Perinatal Mental Illness, which wasn’t diagnosed until Reuben was two. By the point of diagnosis I was exceptionally ill – mentally, emotionally and physically. The illness, on a number of occasions, could have taken my life. But it didn’t and I am here today, determined to play my part in supporting other parents.
I began to write share my story and journey with PND – which you can find HERE – and realised that there are other mums and dads who are also struggling, with many not sure where to turn for help and support.
Lots of other parents have also joined me and have shared part of their own journey, questions, mental health issues or illnesses. You can find these HERE in Guest Posts.
There’s also a place where you can find links to help & support HERE.
I’m passionate about reminding parents that they are not alone and there is help & hope to be found. So, Have you seen that girl? has developed Bags of Hope – a reminder to parents on the longest, hardest and darkest of day there is always light, hope, community, friendship and support.
Alongside that, I also campaign to raise awareness of Perinatal Mental Health and help to improve the support available, for all who struggle. This has meant I’ve been interviewed on radio & TV interview; given a Ted Talk; been the guest speaker at conferences; hosted events; and spoke in Westminster, Parliament, twice. I’ve also written many articles which have been published my various media outlets and magazines. I’m a woman on a mission! Read all I’ve been up to HERE.
From all of this, I founded & now co-lead the campaign, in Northern Ireland, to see our Perinatal Mental Health Services transformed – #TimeForChangeNI
I have a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
You’ll also find my personal blog where I write about all sorts of things – recovering from Postnatal Depression, living with a mental illness diagnosis, motherhood, life, faith and more! You can get that HERE.
