Have you ever posted a photo online, all smiles or looking fantastic but inside feeling anything but?
Or one that captures your ‘best side’ or the ‘you’ that you want the world to see?
Or spent ages looking at other people’s photos and comparing yourself. Questioning who you are and wondering how they appear to “have everything sorted”, when most of the time you are just getting by?
I have. So. Many. Times.
In fact, I used to let the comparison with others consume me. It got to the point where I wondered, and still sometimes do, if I would be better of coming away from social media all together! But instead of going to that extreme, I wondered if we could all begin to tackle it together. And so the #MeYouDontSee was born… it my head in least!
The truth is, we might spend ages taking the perfect picture (yes, at some point we ALL do that, especially to share online) but no one has the “perfect life” – it does’t exist.
The #MeYouDontSee is about helping us challenge all of the above by sharing what’s really going on behind the camera.
Over the next few months, Have you seen that girl? and MummyLinks are hosting the #MeYouDontSee photo series and we’d love you to join us any with photos you feel you can share.
You can also view our #MeYouDontSee Gallery HERE
So, what’s your the #MeYouDontSee?
Here’s how you get involved
•Email your photos and blurb to us at email@example.com for us to put out online
•Or share them via social media on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #MeYouDontSee. Remember to tag one (or both) of us, so we can get them out too! Our social links are below.
When posting on social media, share your picture and then “The #MeYouDontSee is….. (describe how or what you are thinking feeling) and tag us in via which ever social media channel you are using, so we can see it and share it too!
The photo series will be ongoing and we hope it will gain momentum, especially as friends etc see us all share and decide to join in. After a few weeks, a gallery of photos will be on the Have you seen that girl? & MummyLinks websites, please let us know if you are NOT okay to be included in this.
So, for example, here’s one of mine and how it works –
On Twitter –
The #MeYouDontSee is exhausted, running on empty, frightened, holding on by a thread, lonely, anxious, overwhelmed and daily considering leaving her family behind. @have.you.seen.that.girl @mummylinksapp
